Laurel and Hardy - Murder Case (1930) review

I'm reviewing another 1930 Laurel and Hardy, a talkie titled Murder Case. Let's get into it. 

This talkie starts with Laurel and Hardy fishing, then has them at the home of a murdered man in hopes of claiming money, as they are out of work since 1921 according to title cards. At the end you find out all the hijinks were in their head and they fist fight into the water they were fishing in. 

We got a hilariously creepy butler, a bunch of great practical effects, and a lot of silly moments. As usual, I loved it. Also, for 1930 the sound was pretty dang good. I also watched a refurbished version, so that might also be it. If you want the worst "woman passing out in shock" you'll find it here - used for comedic and dramatic effect.

You might think I'm going to give this five stars, but I give it four stars. I rate these out of enjoyment and this was a great one, but not my favorite. It had great hijinks and comedy, but I like others more. So, for all the good sound, great comedy, and practical effects, it gets four stars. Cheers!

 Laurel and Hardy are a pair of comedians I grew up watching, despite the fact they were popular in the 1930s. My dad loves their work and that era of film. Today let's look at their history. A Character Study: Brave

The characters in the movie Brave  are well written and change throughout the movie. While it is easy to say Merida was all in the wrong or Queen Elinor was all in the wrong that is not what the actual movie was about, to begin with. Here is a character study that will give you a deeper understanding of Merida and Queen Elinor. Our starting point is explaining the plot. If you've watched this movie you know the plot, but I'm banking on the fact some of you haven't. Put simply and in a few words, Merida and Queen Elinor have a disagreement over Merida getting married to the winner of the archery contest (which Merida secretly entered herself and won her own hand). There are some hurtful words on both ends, Merida runs into a witch, and it all leads to Queen Elinor turning into a bear unless they "mend the bond torn by pride", which takes both mother and daughter to do. Nancy Drew - Werewolf In A Wonderland (#175) Review

 I needed a short book to fill some review space, so here's a Nancy Drew book review. This is the 175th Nancy Drew classic - Werewolf In A Winter Wonderland. I collect these books. It's about 150 pages long and should be an easy read to fill some review space. This will not be spoiler free. You've been warned.  The plot of this book is Nancy Drew and her friends working for a winter carnival where things are going horribly wrong (as usual, for a Nancy Drew mystery). There is allegedly a werewolf running around, two wolves missing from a wolf reserve, and the carnival is getting sabotaged in nasty ways. This is all par for the course for these small classics.  Nancy Drew is a teenage sleuth in the small town of River Heights.
