Chapter challenge: Making progress on a classic

This challenge is for me, to make progress on Villette at the very least. I've discovered that Villette is not the easiest book to finish, but I think it'll be worth it. I'm reading one chapter of Villette for every five chapters of another book. I'm including three books in this challenge. Let's get into it.

My eyes are wandering to other books, while I have Villette open and unfinished. I need to close that tab in my brain. For every five chapters of another book, I read one chapter of Villette. I can either stop at every five chapters to read Villette or tally up the chapter count and read it later. The point is that I need motivation to keep going. I also don't need a reading slump early in the reading year.

Any books on this blog will be reviewed individually in other blog posts. The reviews are not going to be found on this post. Why? Because this is a post about logging how many chapters I read.

The books

First up is Midnight In Death, part of a series I collect. Midnight In Death is 10 chapters in all. I was halfway through the chapter count (at 5 chapters) on the first reading session. I finished it on my second reading session. Starting from here, that's two chapters of Villette that I've read.

Next is Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, an adaptation of a Jane Austen. This has 61 chapters. I'm happy to say that'll get me much farther in Villette than the first book. That's 12 chapters of Villette read.

The last one is The Woman In Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. This had 37 chapters in it. I read 6 chapters of Villette with this one, 3 chapters that will add to the chapters of other books.

Conclusion

I ultimately decided to read 2 chapters after 10 chapters of another book, so I wouldn't make my challenge more intimidating than it needed to be. It worked out well that way. Villette is good in 2 chapter sessions because it is dense with thoughts and ideas.

After this whole challenge, I am at chapter 35 of Villette (41 chapters long, so I have 6 chapters left to read). Not only did I succeed in getting farther in, but I'm at 79 percent of the book. This was the push I needed to get past the dense middle and into the exciting end. I'm continuing this challenge without documenting it to finish up the last part.
